The Idea Of Fun

Recently, I have been contemplating the idea of Fun and what I consider to be Fun. Having fun is a strange emotional response to an event which a person finds either funny or gains enjoyment from the actions, words or events that occur. This concept of fun has emerged recently when I went on a trip with some friends – which had been building up for some time and was expected to be extravagant and out of this world. However in hindsight I feel almost empty and lost as I can’t understand whether my expectations are two high, or the enjoyment I had hasn’t really sunk in. Nonetheless, the fun of the trip I believe is possibly the stories that I now have to tell people which they find both: entertaining and funny. However, at the time it was only a minor event which occurred due to boredom and little fun.

Elite Athletics Blog – Link Still Up And Running!

I have been contemplating the creation of a blog for a couple of years but due to work commitments and other activites I have not had the time or energy. However last year I created a blog with just 4 posts on various athletics information. I now have a far superior site and structure to Perfect Voyage and the original at the below address hasn’t been updated for 1 year. Moreover, I thought I should just create a link to my previous site as it is still up and running however the Perfect Voyage blog is my main focus over the coming months.

Iphone 3G

Ok the new Iphone 3G will be released in the UK on the 11 July with much anticipation, however is this hype really necessary. Firstly the original Iphone is very similar in design to the new updated 3G but the new design does have significant alterations. The corners and edges are smoother with a gloss black or white back cover, other small modifications are present however are so minor they do not need reporting on. The software nonetheless has be vastly updated from the original. The name instantly gives it away as the speed of data transfer is now 3G with faster surfing and push email over fast 3G networks. The google maps now have built in GPS, therefore you can use it as a satellite navigation and find your way around or visit a shop or service of interest. There is a new appstore icon to download new applications straight to the phone. There is also support for Microsoft Exchange with push email, contacts and calendars with Microsoft activesync. Other features include further language support, scientific calculator, email management and contacts search.

Boredom!

Boredom! Something everyone will experience at least once in their life. It is often associated with a period of inactivity or lack of concentration on a certain task with a feeling of un-enthusiasm towards that task. I have decided to post on this topic as I have recently experienced this and have realized how dull it can actually be. I think that my personal spell of boredom was exacerbated by a high intensity period of activities, which when they finished left a void of things to do.

I’m not really sure why it does occur nonetheless, as their is a multitude of things to do and accomplish in life, however the brain still feels the need to be lazy and just do nothing apart from complain of a lack of activity and excitement. I think that after a period of high intensity activity the brain almost goes into stand-by with a higher standard of events, where the less hectic schedule can’t maintain: therefore the brain finds most task during this period as ‘Boring’.

To counter boredom or help anyone with the symptoms where you “lack enthusiasm” there are a number of areas to look at and consider:

1. Firstly, why are you bored? Was it due to a high intensity period, followed by a quiet spell.

2. Stay happy and have fun again, as prolonged boredom can lead to procrastination and medically affect your life!

3. Find ways to cure this effect, by arranging activities or get involved in an area of interest for yourself.

4. Sit it out, as boredom for most does not last forever: life will regain momentum and you will be fulfilled once again.

5. Realize that you can’t be active all the time and just chill out either with music, mates or meditation for the religious people.

6. Study something really complex and detailed, as I personally find intellectual pursuits maintains the brain function and rejects any thought of procrastination or lack of interest for life. Not only do you stay busy but you also become clever. “knowledge is power and power is everything!” don’t forget that.
